TVNZ produces all award finalists

All five of the finalists in this year’s New Zealand Film Awards Best Television Feature category have come from ABU member TVNZ’s TV ONE channel.

The network says this “cements TVNZ’s position as the front-runner for New Zealand content”.

The Best Television Feature is a new category, sponsored by NZ On Air, a government broadcast funding agency. Four of the five category finalists were made with the assistance of NZ On Air’s Platinum Fund.

The finalists are: Consent: The Louise Nicholas Story by Condor Encore; Erebus: Operation Overdue by Rogue Productions; The Kick by Great Southern Television; Field Punishment No 1 by Lippy Pictures and Pirates of the Airwaves also by Lippy Pictures.

TVNZ‘s general manager of commissioning, Andrew Shaw, says it has been an honour to put such an impressive group of productions to air.

“We have had almost an embarrassment of riches over the last couple of years. All of the finalists were top quality, highly professional creative works that left viewers feeling they had watched something really significant. We’re very proud that they are being acknowledged in this way.”

The winner will be announced on 12 December 2014.
