ABU doco marks 2004 tsunami

The ABU is producing a TV documentary to mark the 10th anniversary of the 2004 Indian Ocean Tsunami.

The documentary, titled “The wave that changed the world”, will be offered copyright free to ABU members and non-members in the Asia-Pacific region.

The tsunami that struck on Boxing Day 2004 killed more than 230,000 people in 14 countries and left a trail of devastation still visible in some parts of the region.

The five-minute documentary will commemorate the lives lost in one of the deadliest disasters in recorded history and will be a call for further action to save lives and prepare people to survive disasters likely with climate change. It is being produced with support from the UN Trust Fund for Tsunami, Disaster and Climate Preparedness set up in 2005.
