Turner launches Toonami in Thailand
Turner Broadcasting System Asia Pacific is expanding the reach of its anime-adventure channel Toonami, launching a new Thai version in partnership with Thailand’s Major Kantana Broadcasting.
According to Kidscreen News Toonami will be available in 11 million Thai households from January 14. Programming for the new Thai-language channel will include movies and animated series like Ben 10, Justice League Unlimited, Teen Titans, Transformers Prime, Wolverine and the X-Men and Batman: The Brave and the Bold.
Available via satellite and cable in Thailand, Toonami’s launch comes on the heels of the recent opening of Cartoon Network Amazone, the brand’s first-ever water park in the region.
To date, Turner operates 45 channels in 38 countries in Asia Pacific. For its Southeast Asia territory, the company recently brought aboard former BBC exec Awantika Sood as sales director.
