ABU doco marking 2004 tsunami now available for broadcast

The ABU is now distributing its TV documentary that marked the 10th anniversary of the 2004 Indian Ocean Tsunami.

The documentary, titled “The wave that shook the world”, produced with the support of the Trust Fund for Tsunami, Disaster and Climate Preparedness, set up in 2005, is offered copyright free to ABU members and non-members in the Asia-Pacific region.

The tsunami that struck on Boxing Day 2004 killed more than 230,000 people in 14 countries and left a trail of devastation still visible in some parts of the region.

The five-minute documentary commemorates the lives lost in one of the deadliest disasters in recorded history and is a call for further action to save lives and prepare people to survive disasters likely with climate change.

The wave that shook the world is also available for viewing at the ABU website.
