Myanmar’s new channel gains range of Korean content

4-Ladies, the TV channel which launched in Myanmar earlier this month, has acquired 51 South Korean hit television shows from content and media company CJ E&M.

The new Hallyu channel, which is operated by ABU member Forever Group and MKCS Global, has bought the rights to air entertainment shows such as Grandpas over Flowers and Dancing 9, along with K-beauty and K-food programs such as The Cook-Off, Tasty Road and Get it Beauty.

“We are glad to supply different types of our entertainment content to 4-Ladies. This will give new momentum to boosting Hallyu in East Asian countries and also to strengthening cultural ties between Korea and Myanmar,” said Jangho Seo, head of international sales & acquisitions team, CJ E&M.

In coming months 4-Ladies plans to further expand its Korean television offering, as well as commencing the production of local content in mid-2015, according to a statement.
