Hong Kong’s TVB launches GOTV

ABU’s Hong Kong member Television Broadcasts Limited (TVB) has introduced an over-the-top (OTT) service, GOTV.

TVB partnered with Elemental Technologies to deploy Elemental software-defined video solutions on the OTT platform for content delivery services. 

Cheong Shin-keong, General Manager of TVB said GOTV will initially offer more than 350 drama series, or 10,000 episodes in total. Then, he added, the broadcaster plans to add more drama series gradually, with the aim to capture more than 100,000 subscribers to the service by the end of this year and break even in one or two years.

Elemental software processes and manages live linear broadcast channels in real time for TVB’s OTT content delivery service. Mediatech (International) Ltd is overseeing integration and configuration of Elemental video processing for TVB.

In the TVB OTT workflow, Elemental live encodes linear channels in real time and Elemental Conductor manages multiple channel streams to provide web-based control and automated redundancy, ensuring the uninterrupted delivery of content.
