Deutsche Welle – Launching new English Channel

A news and information channel in English will be launched by Deutsche Welle(DW), the German International Broadcaster in June next during the DW’s annual media conference, Global Media Forum.

The DW Director General, Peter Limbourg is conscious of the role played by English language in the global competition of values and he thinks that the international media coverage of German perspectives should be given a better chance.

Some 2000 international participants mainly from politics, media and other areas of public life are expected to be present at the forthcoming Global Media Forum . They will also witness the launch of the new English Channel Live at the forum. The new channel will broadcast news on the hour as well as magazines, programmes and documentaries around the world.

Apart from the new English Channel , as  from June 22, DW will offer four additional 24-hour TV channels for various parts of the world. The regional TV channels will continue to broadcast  in their respective languages, complementing the 24-hour English channel.
