Pakistan celebrates World Radio Day

A ‘Radio Week’ was launched early this week by FM Pakistan Community Media Network (FMPCMM) with the support of other stations across the country to mark the World Radio Day (WRD).

Proclaimed by UNESCO in 2011, the WRD aims at encouraging major networks to promote access to information, freedom of expression  and gender equality over the airwaves. The WRD will be observed on Friday, February 13.

In Pakistan, FMCPMM works for the promotion of community radio and also campaigns for broadcast development and ICT&T training. To mark the celebration, it will organise live radio shows, quiz competitions and other events in different educational institutions.

This week another station, FM100 Pakistan commemorated WRD with a Live Talk Show in Urdu and English.
