Saudi Arabia Steps on Digital Satellite Platform

A new digital satellite TV platform will carry Saudi channels and will give a new impetus to the private media sector in the Middle East Kingdom. Arabsat and Media Speed are the promoters of this new project.

The Saudi Arabia’s General Commission for Audiovisual Media gave its greenlight to the contract worth nearly US$ 3 million. Khalid bin Ahmed Balkheyour, President and CEO of Arabsat, expressed his satisfaction to the fact that Arabsat is the first satellite operator involved in building and operating this platform. He hoped that this would be a real start for building media cities all over the major regions of the Kingdom in the near future.

For his part, Media Speed’s Chairman, Mofleh Al-Haftah said his company will integrate systems from major international vendors to ensure it meets Arabsat’s high standards.
