Indian farming channel Kisan TV to be launched by Doordarshan this month.

Doorarshan will proceed to the soft launch of its farming channel, Kisan TV, aimed at farmers and rural dwellers on 23 March 2015.

The launch of this new 24-hour channel was scheduled on 14 January on Makar Sankranti Day but has now been reported to 14 April on Baisakhi Day. The channel will primarily explore farming developments, such as core agriculture, critical support and essential ancillary areas, across varied agro-economic zones, climatic areas and different crops. In addition, related films, reality shows, cookery shows and soaps are expected to fill the schedule.

Kishan TV will broadcast in Hindi with regional subtitles.

Public broadcaster Prasar Bharati is also working on a 24/7 television channel for northeast India, promoting the region’s cultural and linguistic identity.
