Disaster Risk Reduction: International Award for Best TV Documentary – Two ABU Members selected

Out of twelve films shortlisted for the first edition of the International Award for Best TV Documentary on Disaster Risk Reduction, two have been produced by ABU Member countries. They are ‘The miracle of Kamaishi: The Children Who Survived the Tsunami’ by  NHK-Japan, and ‘Wave of Change’ by Thai PBS. 

The competition will compensate work that spotlights human stories, investigation and innovation. All the documentaries have been broadcast on television since 2005, the year that the international community adopted the Hyogo Framework for Action (HFA), the most encompassing disaster risk reduction accord ever. The four winners will be announced at a ceremony on 16 March at the Third UN World Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction in Sendai, Japan.
