ABU 2015 GNF Brings Media Decision-Makers Together

Decision-makers and practitioners in the mass media industry gather in Sendai, Japan for the ABU 2015 Global News Forum (GNF).

The March 15 gathering in Sendai discussed topics such as “Preparing for a Mega-Disaster”, “Advances in Emergency Reporting” and “Improving Access to Crucial Information in the Digital Age”.

The two-day forum, hosted by NHK, was held concurrently with the UN’s World Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction in Sendai. Sendai was one of the many places in Japan that was greatly affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake and Tsunami on March 11, 2011.

The GNF was launched in 2013 with the aim of establishing a platform for an open and high-profile dialogue among broadcast journalists from around the world on the fast-changing developments in the mass media industry.

The second day of the GNF was dedicated for a visit to some of the March 11, 2011 disaster-hit areas.
