India: Doordarshan to air pre-school children’s Australian Show

India’s state television service Doordarshan (DD) has acquired Hit Australian pre-school children’s TV show Bananas in Pyjamas.

The programme will be broadcast on DD every Sunday morning at 10.30am from 26 April. DD National will also air another Australian kids’ show Giggle and Hoot as part of its deal with producers the Australian Broadcasting Corporation – ABC.

“The launch of Australia Plus Kids’ programming on DD National is a joyous occasion for it would help Indians better appreciate Australia and its culture. I also look forward to ABC helping us in getting across to Australian audience to let them closely know and understand India, its heritage and its culture,” said Jawhar Sircar, CEO of DD’s operator, Prasar Bharati.

Bananas in Pyjamas has been sold to more than 80 countries around the world since it was first broadcast in 1992.
