ABU CARE 5 Meeting: Focus on the Importance of Education

Eleven documentary producers from ten ABU member countries met at the KBS headquarters in Seoul from April 29th to May 1st 2015 to screen and discuss their films for CARE 5 project under the theme, “The Future: Road to School”  highlighting the importance of education.

This 2nd producers meeting of the ABU documentary co-production project CARE 5 was a follow-up meeting after the 1st producers’ meeting held in Kuala Lumpur last December.

During the 3-day meeting, rough cuts were screened one by one followed by discussions. All participants had a chance to strengthen their documentaries by listening to constructive criticism and suggestions. The films portrayed differing cultural perspectives covering a variety of educational concerns.

CARE project was initiated by KBS in 2009 with aims to inform the public about the United Nations Millennium Development Goals (MDG) and to promote social responsibilities of media to make our society a better place for all. Now in its 5th series, 14 broadcasters from 13 different countries are participating in CARE 5: BBS-Bhutan, CCTV-China, FBC-Fiji, RTHK-Hong Kong, Phoenix TV-Hong Kong, Metro TV-Indonesia, KBS-Korea, PBC KR-Kyrgyzstan, RTM-Malaysia, NTV-Nepal, PBC-Palestine, SLRC-Sri-Lanka, TRT-Turkey, and VTV-Vietnam.  

All the documentaries will be broadcast later in the respective member countries.
