Deutsche Welle expands its cooperation with partner stations in the Baltic States.

DW Director-General Peter Limbourg said that such initiative is an important signal at the right time.  He just signed with Ivars Belte, Chairman of the Board of Latvian Television (LTV) in Riga corresponding agreements (Memorandum of Understanding).

The planned greater cooperation in Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia encompasses programme adoptions and co-productions, as well as consultancy services. According to Mr Limbourg, DW programme deliveries in the Russian language   will help the people in these three states to have access to more information on the region and worldwide. DW Akademie will also conduct training of journalists in the region.

Ivars Belte, Chairman of the Board of Latvian Television (LTV), underlined the importance of the “support by partner stations in other European countries who share our perspectives and values.” That’s what the cooperation with Deutsche Welle stands for,” she said.

The directors of the partner stations in the Baltic states will for their part be guests of Deutsche Welle from 22 to 24 June at the Global Media Forum in Bonn.
