ABU BIG CITIES Co-production Project: NHK-Japan and RAI-Italy moderated 1st Producers’ Meeting in Malaysia
The 1st Producers meeting of BIG CITIES co-production project was successfully held from 18 to 19 June, with 11 participating organisations, back to back with ABU DOC. BIG CITIES project is an international documentary co-production project between EBU, European Broadcasting Union, TAL, Television America Latino, and ABU. Its aim is to address the issues and problems faced by big cities around the globe and to show unique solutions implemented in each cities.
Moderated by two Executive Producers for this project, Ms Asako Kume from NHK, Japan, and Mr Markus Nikel from RAI, Italy, participating producers from ABU members proposed their story ideas and discussed how to enhance them. Mr Markus Nikel said: “I am very glad that we have so many exiting story ideas from Asia. I am confident that this co-production is going to be a very successful one.”
Participating organisations from ABU were: BTV-Bangladesh, CCTV-China, KBS-Korea, MediaCorp-Singapore, NHK-Japan, RTB-Brunei, RTHK-Hong Kong, RTM-Malaysia, SLRC-Sri Lanka, Thai PBS, TV3- Malaysia and VTV-Vietnam.
