Pacific Region: Media Educators team up for a regional vision

Media Educators Pacific (MEP) is a newly formed group with the aim to enhance media training and education in the pacific region. The new organisation will group educators at the Technical, Vocational and Education Training (TVET) media institutes from Samoa, Tonga, Fiji, Solomon Islands and Vanuatu and the university-based journalism schools.

MEP says it will invest in producing quality and quantity of not just professional but qualified journalists in the region. Identified projects include a non-competitive film festival to produce content, regional competitions through print, radio, online, and regional media and journalism awards.

Part of the group’s vision is to also gain the support from educators in Australia, New Zealand and Philippines.
