The second ABU Central Asia Media Forum kicks off in Tashkent, Uzbekistan

The second ABU Central Asia Media Forum took place from 23-24 July 2015 in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. The two-day event, by the name of “ABU 2015 Tashkent Forum”, is organised by the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) and is hosted by the National Television and Radio Corporation of Uzbekistan.

The pre-conference workshops discussed various topics ranging from digitalisation of audio visual archives, one-man news journalist techniques, news and social media integration and sports media rights acquisition and distribution. The conference sessions focussed on topics related to creative content and storytelling techniques as well as inclusive broadcasting technology and applications. The topics and sessions were presented by 8 international experts who were also joined by some local speakers from Uzbekistan sharing their experiences with other colleagues.

The 2015 Tashkent Forum is the second such forum organised by the ABU. The first Central Asia Media forum was held in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan in 2013. The forum aims to gather broadcasters and industry players in Central Asia and other media stakeholders around the region and initiate mutual cooperation and collaboration in the media space. It also aims to support our members in Central Asia to build up capacities and to prepare themselves for the future and upcoming challenges.

The Tashkent Forum was attended by more than 40 senior colleagues from broadcasting and media organisations in and around the region including delegates and speakers from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Russia, Belarus, Turkey, Thailand, Singapore, Germany, South Korea and UAE in addition to local participants from various media organisations in Uzbekistan.
