Digital Broadcasting discussed at PBI-Munich

The 24th PBI (Public Broadcasters International) Conference was held in Munich, Germany from September 9 to 11. Host this year is ARD/BR (Bayerisher Rundfunk) and the assembly attracted 240 participants from 39 countries. The range of the topics extended from digital society, journalism in digital era to attracting younger generation.

NHK, KBS, ABC, SBS, TDM and RNZ participated in the two day discussions. President Katsuto Momii of NHK had a keynote speech on the leadership and innovation session explaining NHK’s plan introducing 8K technology by 2020, the year of Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics.

Mr. Chuloong Jung, Executive Director, KBS presented KBS’s policy on content distribution on multiple platform.

PBI is an association of leaders and professionals of public broadcasters. The host next year is CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Corporation) and the conference is scheduled from September 14 to 16 in Montreal.
