Asiavision Coordinators Hold Fruitful Meeting

The Asiavision (AVN) Coordinators meeting in Phuket, Thailand concluded after two days of fruitful deliberations. The focus of the meeting, hosted by MCOT of Thailand, was on ways to improve the overall quality of the AVN news exchange.

The 17-18 September meeting saw the participation of 26 of AVN’s 30 members. The AVN Centre presented a report on the AVN activities and there were presentations by AVN partners – European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and Arab States Broadcasting Union (ASBU). There were also presentations by AVN members MTRK of Uzbekistan and ABC of Australia as well as by invited guest AP, the international news agency.

AVN’s newest member ABS-CBN of the Philippines also made an introductory presentation. The first day’s deliberations on 17 September concluded with the delegates holding a brainstorming session. The second day saw delegates going on a team-building excursion of Phuket Island.
