GA 2015: New 2016 ABU projects discussed at the Programme Bureau Meeting

ABU Music Exchange, ABU Dance Festival, ABU Content Market and ABU Cup TV Song Contest are new initiatives which the Union will implement in 2016 and 2017.

Details of these new projects have been revealed this afternoon at the 2nd Programme Bureau Meeting. Chaired by Mr Jaeheon Song, Chairperson of the ABU Standing Programme Committee, the meeting was an opportunity for the ABU Programme Department to present a list of all activities run from November 2014 to October 2015. All members present were impressed by the 40 activities which were held in only one year.

The ABU Music Exchange will be launched during the General Assembly by the ABU President and the platform will be operational in February 2016. The first edition of the ABU Dancing Festival will be held in November 2016 in New Delhi, India. Mrs Aparna Vaish from DD-India made a detailed presentation on the modalities of the festival.

ABU Content Market will be also be held in 2016 in collaboration with CCTV-China. Ms Zhang Xiao from the Chinese public broadcasting organisation informed the meeting about the latest development of the project. Ms Hanizah Hamzah, ABU Head of TV talked about a new project- ABU Cup TV Song Contest to be discussed next year and to be held at the beginning of 2017.
