CCTV-China to promote Korean culture on its IPTV platform

China Central Television (CCTV) is planning to launch a Korean culture television channel on its IPTV platform, CCTV.com on 1 December.

The Heilongjiang Newspaper is being entrusted with the responsibility of operating the Korean broadcast at China’s CCTV.com. The channel will air South Korean cultural content. It will also sell Korean products, as per media reports in Korea.

“We will put up a total of 12 genres including Korean films, soap operas, fashion, games and leisure, with the programmes to have either Chinese subtitles or to be dubbed in Chinese for viewers there,” said Han Kwang-cheon, Chief of Heilongjiang Newspaper to The Korea Herald.

The channel would serve as a way of cultural exchange between Korea and China.
