Mr Hikaru Doumoto is the new Acting President of the ABU

The Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union once more has the chance to be headed by an accomplished professional in the broadcasting sector. Mr Hikaru Doumoto who took the role of the acting President on 24 November 2015, is one of the most distinguished figures in broadcast journalism in Japan.

His career spans over 40 years at the NHK- Nippon Hoso Kyokai, the public broadcaster in Japan. Just after having been graduated with a Bachelor of Law from Waseda University, Tokyo, Mr Doumoto joined NHK as a Reporter.

Throughout the years, his journalistic skills were being easily recognised. In May 2000, he was appointed Head of Political News Division, Reporting Center, News Department. Five year later, he became Head of the News Department. His commitment and competence led him to a higher position in 2012 when he was appointed Executive Vice President & Managing Director of Kinki Branch Office, NHK PLANNET, INC.

In February 2014, Mr Hikaru Doumoto joined the highest hierarchical team in public broadcasting in Japan as Executive Vice President of NHK.
