8K Live Public Viewings in Japan
To mark the end of the year 2015, NHK will host live 8K (Super Hi-Vision) public viewings of the 66th NHK Kohaku Utagassen – showcasing the year’s best music in Japan at four venues.
The 16 times higher picture definition of Hi-Vision and three-dimensional 22.2-multichannel sound will enable to appreciate the singers’ stirring performances as if viewers were in NHK Hall themselves. In addition to the live broadcast, there will also be screenings of other 8K contents, including last year’s Kohaku (except at the NHK Museum of Broadcasting). NHK looks forward to welcoming as many viewers as possible to these screenings.
The show is scheduled on 30-31 December at Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse, Aeon Cinema Makuhari Shintoshin and NHK Kyoto Broadcasting Station and on 31 December only at NHK Museum of Broadcasting.
To attend the live public viewing of the Kohaku, advance application is required via the website http://www.nhk.or.jp/event/
