NHK to broadcast Inside Lens – A Documentary Series on Japan and Asia Today

Inside Lens is a series of documentary programs on Japan and Asia today, covered and produced by globally active independent directors of Asian and western origin, in association with NHK. NHK WORLD TV will broadcast this series for nine consecutive days in January.

In a diverse program line-up, a director from China follows Chinese tourists on a massive shopping spree in Japan, which also reveals changing Chinese society such as their rising concern regarding the quality of products and foods. In Myanmar, viewers could watch one of the world’s largest ruby mines, long off bounds to foreigners in the days of the military government. The program shows not only how the rubies are extracted but also the mine’s severe environmental impact.

The programmes will be broadcast from 23rd to 31st  January 2016.
