2nd ABU Media Summit on Climate Change and Disaster Risk Reduction: Registration is now open

The 2nd ABU Media Summit on Climate Change and Disaster Risk Reduction will be held in Krabi Province, Thailand, 12-14 May 2016.

The three day event includes a conference, workshops, documentary awards and exhibition under the theme Media Meets Climate Change and Disasters Challenges.

The Summit will bring together more than 200 media professionals, scientists, representatives of UN organisations, government agencies and NGOs involved in climate change mitigation, risk management and early warnings for disasters. They will develop strategies to work together with the media to prepare people for the dramatic effects of climate change and future increased natural hazards.

The Summit is hosted by the ABU member Thai Public Broadcasting Services in the Krabi province, which was devastated by the 2004 deadly tsunami.

The inaugural ABU Media Summit on Climate Change and DRR was held in June 2014 in Jakarta, Indonesia. It adopted a Declaration, which commits the ABU over 100 broadcast members to make climate change and disaster risk reduction coverage a priority for their content development.

Deadline for registration for the 2nd ABU Media Summit on Climate Change and Disaster Risk Reduction is 1 May 2016. For more information contact Ms Natalia Ilieva: natalia@abu.org.my
