DBS 2016: Audience Needs and Demand shape the Broadcasting industry

The ABU 2016 Digital Broadcasting Symposium (DBS) was officially opened this morning at Istana Hotel, Kuala Lumpur by the Malaysian Deputy Minister of Communications and Multimedia, YB Dato’ Jailani Johari in the presence of the Director-General of RTM, Dato’ Haji Abu Bakar Ab. Rahim.

The Deputy Minister said that during the last 12 years, the ABU Digital Broadcasting Symposium has offered a unique opportunity for broadcasters in the region to share expertise  and experience. He underlined that today’s connected environment needs creativity and innovation and what is most important is to provide value-added services to the audience. He added that broadcasters should be aware that consumers’ needs and demand determine the market and shape the whole industry.

This year the DBS has attracted more than 200 organisations from 56 countries.

YB Dato’ Jailani Johari also opened the exhibition held in the context of DBS. This year nearly 50 exhibitors from the Asia-Pacific region and beyond are showcasing their products and services during the next three days.
