DBS 2016: Day 2 focused on New Technologies and Content

>On the second day of ABU Digital Broadcasting Symposium 2016, there were lots of discussions on the evolving technologies in broadcasting – from radio digital technology to management of social media content with focus also on 8K and OTT.

“It is important to understand that these technologies also provide forward looking broadcasters with new pathways to enhance their services and additional revenue streams.” Dr Javad Mottaghi, the ABU Secretary-General set the tone earlier in his opening address highlighting the importance of going on different digital platforms so as to reap the benefits of the digitally connected era through innovative and creative content.

Ms Joan Warner, Vice Chair of WorldDAB – the principal Sponsor of DBS 2016, talked about the importance of Free To Air which is still very robust. She also recalled that digital radio remains undoubtedly a reliable technology in times of emergencies.

A new line-up of accomplished speakers intervened on different topics such as Creative Content, TV Formats in the Digital Age, Disaster Information System and Emerging Media Technologies.
