VTBC-Vanuatu to have nationwide coverage

The government of Vanuatu is supporting the public broadcaster to cover the whole country. The contribution of Vanuatu Broadcasting and Television Corporation (VTBC) in the 100 Days Plan of the government will consist mainly of having radio and television coverage reaching the whole population in the very near future.

The Vanuatu Prime Minister, Mr Charlot Salwai who is also the minister responsible for media, at a meeting with the VTBC Board of Directors last week said “With more facilities in place like the e-government network, submarine cable and the establishment of the Office of the Government Chief Information Officer (OGCIO), lack of coverage is a challenging issue.”

He added that media is important because people must be aware of what is happening nationally, regionally and internationally. The Prime Minister concluded that he would continue to support the media to work freely in the country.
