NBTC Promotes Digital TV in Thailand

AFTER a delay of almost three years, the broadcasting regulator in Thailand has finally selected Obtainment Co to launch its public relations campaign to raise national awareness of digital terrestrial TV.

The contract is expected to be sealed this month. Takorn Tantasith, Secretary-General of the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC), said that Obtainment offered the best bid at Bt53.56 million, which was below its base price of Bt63.5 million.

NBTC is also expected to approve digital terrestrial TV coupons for 10.5 million more households. The four groups reportedly entitled to receive these coupons are households that did not receive them in the first round of giveaways; households with proprietors that were registered after Sept. 16, 2014; registered households with tenants but without proprietors; and households with proprietor holding a temporary registration.
