4TH REGIONAL WORKSHOP ON OTT AND IBB TECHNOLOGIES AND SERVICES FOR MEDIA
27 to 30 September (Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia) 

At the 4th Regional Workshop on OTT and IBB Technologies and Services for Media, Seemantani Sharma – ABU Legal and IP Services Officer gave a presentation on “Net Neutrality in APAC“. The presentation was followed by a discussion, with Dr. Amal Punchihewa, Director of Technology and Innovation at the ABU and Mr. Ashish Narayan, Programme Coordinator at the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) taking the lead. 

There was an extensive discussion on the regulatory framework governing network neutrality in the region. In the backdrop of the recent blocking of Netflix in Indonesia, Amal Punchihewa raised a a noteworthy question on the plausible reason for this blockage. This was a tipping point, which generated immense interest from the participants, particularly from Indonesia.
