DD India slot auction – Final bidders known by next week

Balaji Telefilms, BAG Films & Media and Keylight Productions are the three production houses which submitted their bids to Prasar Bharati for the National programming slots.

Seven production houses showed interest previously but bids will be examined and only eligible ones will be selected for e-auction taking place in September. A final list of qualified bidders will be made public by the end of August on the DD website.

Production houses winning the bid will have to introduce their programmes as from the 31 October, after e-auction. Letter of award will be issued and procedural formalities, agreement and performance bank guarantee will be done.

The criteria needed to be eligible for DD’s slot auction include the production house being an Indian entity incorporated, registered and recognised under the respective applicable laws and already present since the last three financial years.

Also, 200 hours of general entertainment programming in any Indian language telecast during the last three calendar years should have been produced by the company. 100 hours of content including reality, games, quiz genres should have been aired during the last three years as well.

Each slot should last for 30 minutes with 24 minutes consisting of programme and the remaining six minutes consists of commercial time.
