Channel NewsAsia celebrates 50 Years of friendship with Japan

Channel NewsAsia presents A Beautiful Life Musical Fiesta, its first-ever outdoor musical event in celebration of Singapore and Japan’s 50 years of normalised ties and friendship. The event gathers over 45 performers and features special music and dance entertainment items from the HIBIKIYA performance group, and culminates in an extraordinary showcase by a group of granny superstars from the island of Kohama in Okinawa – the KBG84.

KBG84 is an unlikely group of octogenarian singing idols, with its members’ average age at 84 years.  Their performance at the fiesta this Saturday, 3 December 2016 at the Singapore Botanic Gardens, will be their first outside of Japan. 

The granny idols’ amazing stories and journey to Singapore will be featured in a documentary, A Beautiful Life, which will telecast on Channel NewsAsia and NHK World early next year.
