ABU supported the first DVB Asia Conference

The first DVB Asia Conference was held in Bangkok from 29th November to 1st December 2016. Over one hundred delegates from the Asia-Pacific region and from other parts of the world participated.

The conference discussed over 25 topics addressed by 25 speakers from all regions, covering a wide range of recent developments in broadcast media. NHK-Japan presented its plans for 3D TV solutions.  The ABU made a presentation on the digital terrestrial television status in Asia-Pacific region and also participated in panel discussions on mobile TV over DTT. Both Thailand and India are deploying more efforts to improve the DTT signal. Other topics discussed included HbbTV and second screen, bringing broadcast to a tablet near you, single illumination for DTT and DTH and IP in the studio.

The conference started with a master class led by Prof. Ulrich Reimers on DVB-T2 and concluded with a UHD workshop that was conducted by Dr David Wood of the European Broadcasting Union.
