A Dance Festival to promote Cultural Diversity in Asia-Pacific

The 1st ABU International Dance Festival (AIDF) was successfully held in Hyderabad, India, hosted by Prasar Bharati / Doordarshan (DD) on January 15.

More than 2000 audience at Shilpakala Vedika Concert Hall were enchanted by various dance performances by young artists in both traditional and contemporary category. The purpose of the AIDF is to showcase the cultural diversity of the region and to promote mutual understanding and friendship through dance.

There were fifteen dance performances from 9 countries, including three teams from host country, India and the artists performed sometimes energetically and sometimes elegantly. The two and half hour show was broadcast live on DD and also was live-streamed. The programme can be watched at the link below:

Participating organisations were; ASTRO-Malaysia, CTC-The Philippines, DD-India, FBC-Fiji, ICTIMAI-Azerbaijan, MTRK-Uzbekistan, PSM-Maldives, RRI-Indonesia, RTA-Afghanistan, TVRI-Indonesia.
