Channel NewsAsia presents successful Family Businesses in Asia

Channel NewsAsia’s business-documentary, The Successors, returns for a fifth season to reveal the next generation of a family continuing and expanding the family business. The 8-part series delves into what motivates leaders and how the dynamics of professional and personal matters affect their decision-making processes.  The Successors 5 aims to show how the heirs of the most successful business and political families in Asia are charting their own course in the business world.

The first episode profiles how Richard Eu, the scion of Eu Yan Sang, turned around a struggling Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) business into a renowned modern, multi-million dollar company.  It is uncommon to come across a Chief Executive Officer who is both a recording artist and successful businessman.  As Richard grew up in a traditional Chinese family, he knew that the dream of being a professional pop singer was too far-fetched a career goal.  In his younger days, he ventured into stockbroking and merchant banking until the threat of business extinction forced him to join the family business.

The Successors 5 will be aired from 14-16 February.
