Cutting Edge 8K Camera Technologies

NHK- Japan is getting ready to broadcast the 2020 Tokyo Olympics in 8K. This super-high resolution is four times as sharp as 4K (currently the standard bearer for high-res broadcasting), and 16 times as sharp as 1080p.

The 8K test broadcasting started in 2016 while the regulation broadcasting will kick off next year.  The new technology is known for having more pixels with High Resolution, faster pixels with a higher frame rate and better pixels with wide colour gamut and high dynamic range.

Mr Tomoki Matsubara, Researcher at NHK Science and Technology Research Laboratories  speaking at ABU Digital Broadcasting Symposium 2017 in Kuala Lumpur said that everything is now in place to develop and finalise the broadcast technology capable of handling 8K video. A final touch is presently being made to the 8K cameras.

The 8K resolution display, or Super Hi-Vision (SHV), is a next-generation technology that is expected to succeed 4K. The combination of the Ultra High Definition picture with a three-dimensional, 22.2 multichannel sound system, creates an immersive reality transferring audiences on location.
