DD Freedish to increase channel capacity to 250

DD FreeDish, Doordarshan DTH platform which already has 124 channels will soon increase its channels capacity to 250 in the next two years. The announcement was made by Mr Rajyavardhan Rathore, Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting. He further added that Doordarshan’s DD National channel has been uplinked in HD format since January.

DD FreeDish is the only Free-to-Air DTH platform in the country and began the adoption of MPEG4 which mark a major step toward its target of 104 TV channels end March. With its 32nd e-auction, DD FreeDish crosses the capacity of 80 channels.

Although DD FreeDish will remain FTA with no monthly payment, viewers will need to register with to get the new STB from Doordarshan authorised STB dealers.
