TRT-Turkey reaches for the Sky

Expanding its television distribution across the UK and Ireland, Turkey’s first English language international news platform, TRT World, is now available from the Sky satellite service.

TRT World is owned by the Turkish national public broadcaster TRT, and comprises a platform of news outlets that is said to “inspire change within the world” through diverse reporting. It is headquartered in Istanbul, Turkey and has three broadcast centres located in London, Washington DC and Singapore.

In March 2017, TRT World began broadcasting over the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) on Arabsat’s Badr-6 satellite at 26°E, following a deal by the channel’s worldwide distributor Globecast.

The channel is now available to all the pay-TV giant’s 11.5 million standard and high definition subscribers, a milestone achievement, said TRT Deputy Director General Ibrahim Eren. (Rapid TV News)
