SAPPRFT-China to upgrade content and fight piracy

Security provider Irdeto has received official recognition by ChinaDRM Lab, the official testing organisation of the country’s regulator SAPPRFT, for its TraceMark forensic watermarking solution.

Irdeto says that the certification recognises the robustness of the solution and will enable operators in China to monetise over-the-top (OTT) offerings and build a 360° anti-piracy strategy around their ecosystem of content offerings, giving operators in China the confidence to launch high value content services and fight piracy. The digital rights management (DRM) solution is compliant with the standards set by Hollywood studios for premium Ultra HD and early release content.

“In order to keep pirates at bay, content owners and operators need to implement a comprehensive, 360° anti-piracy strategy that includes detection, monitoring, education and enforcement,” said Rory O’Connor, Vice President of cybersecurity services, Irdeto. “A key component of this 360° anti-piracy approach is forensic watermarking, he added.”
