Clock is ticking on entries for ABU’s new radio drama festival

The clock is running on this year’s ABU SONIC International Radio Drama Festival, so you are urged to get your entries in as soon as possible.

The festival is a new initiative by the ABU to promote the production of quality audio-based drama and to provide quality drama content to its member broadcasters. It will be co-hosted with ABU member Radio Republic Indonesia (RRI), from 27-29 November 2017 in the beautiful ancient city of Yogyakarta.

The festival now has five categories of radio drama: Long Form Drama; Mini Drama; Radio-based Multimedia Drama; Radio Drama (Youth) and Docudrama.

ABU SONIC is the audio equivalent of a film festival, a celebration of audio story telling at its very best in all its forms, from traditional stand-alone radio dramas to contemporary multi-platform audio productions.

All Radio drama productions entered into ABU SONIC will be considered on their on-air qualities – concept, content, technical and artistic production and innovation – but those in the multimedia sections will also be assessed on how well they use new media tools to enhance the content.

Participants of the Festival will also be treated to Masterclasses, Workshops and presentations of world-class and award-winning radio dramas, so there really is something for everyone.

So don’t delay. Get your entries in now and be part of one of the most exciting developments in radio-based drama in decades.
