The media industry is facing radical change and an uncertain future, the ABU President said
Mr Ko Dae-young, President of the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) believes that member broadcasters of the ABU will be able to cope with all new challenges while serving their audiences.
He was speaking during a press conference on Thursday afternoon in Chengdu, China where the 54th ABU General Assembly will kick off tomorrow morning. Commenting on the theme of the assembly this year – “Media in Times of Uncertainty”, Mr Ko who is also the President and CEO of Korean Broadcasting System (KBS) said that the media is facing radical change and an uncertain future.
The ABU President explained to journalists the role of the Union which comprises of more than 270 members in 72 countries across the Asia-Pacific region and serves 3.5 billion viewers. He briefly mentioned some of ABU’s major events such as Digital Broadcasting Symposium, Robocon Contest, TV Song Festival, Asiavision, Pacific Media Partnership Conference and the Media Summit on Climate Change and Disaster Risk Reduction. He added that all these activities strengthen the purpose and philosophy of the ABU.
Mr Ko Dae-young concluded in underlining that the ABU will apply all its efforts and wisdom to enhance its achievements and vision.
