GA 2017: ABU supports fully the Belt and Road Initiative

The ABU network of more than 270 members in 70 countries across the Asia-Pacific region and beyond coincides with the scope of the Belt and Road Initiative. This ambitious project can also boost exchange in broadcasting and culture.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the forum with the theme “Deepening Media Cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative” the ABU President Mr Ko Dae-young said that the Belt and Road Initiative will become a channel for content containing diverse Asian values that will travel to Europe and other continents and that the ABU member broadcasters can play a key role in the distribution.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was also signed between the ABU and China International Television Corporation (CITVC) for more and better media relations and cooperation in the region.

The forum was organized in conjunction with the 54th ABU General Assembly in Chengdu. In his speech, Mr Yang Xingping, Vice Governor of the People’s Government of Sichuan Province talked about the Belt and Road Initiative as a platform to promote socio-economic and cultural development.
