All India Radio on Amazon Echo Dot

All India Radio (AIR) is planning to introduce its services on Amazon’s Echo Dot speakers in the next three to six months.

This was announced by AIR’s Director General Fayyaz Sheheryar last week at a seminar on the occasion of Public Service Broadcasting Day and celebration of the 20th anniversary of public broadcasting agency Prasar Bharati.

Amazon Echo is a brand of smart speakers developed by Amazon.com, which connect to its voice-controlled intelligent personal service Alexa. Sheheryar also said that AIR is planning to introduce HD radio that will enable listeners to opt for programmes in digital format.

He added that AIR is currently working to provide access to Virtual Private Network (VPN), which will provide seamless broadcasting service to any part of the country. The official website of the AIR is also being refreshed to incorporate all stations across the country. Its mobile app will also be refreshed to incorporate over 20 live streaming channels including HD radio channels. (Asia Radio Today)
