TVB – Hong Kong reaches deal with IOC for Winter Olympics

Coverage of the Pyeongchang Winter Olympics is set to be broadcast in Hong Kong after an eleventh hour agreement was reportedly reached between TVB and the International Olympics Committee (IOC).

TVB will be the official broadcaster in Hong Kong, with 1,000 hours of coverage planned from South Korea, according to the South China Morning Post. An official announcement is expected soon. The performance of Hong Kong’s Arabella Ng in the giant slalom and slalom competitions will be included in the rights deal, the newspaper reports. Viewers would be able to watch live coverage through TVB’s over-the-top (OTT) myTV Super service, which streams video to Internet-connected devices.

In mainland China, state broadcaster CCTV will provide coverage of the games.

The Winter Olympics opens with a ceremony on the evening of Friday 9 February (local time), following the initial events from Pyeongchang a day earlier
