ABU Digital Broadcasting Symposium to Showcase Latest Technologies

Leading broadcasting industry players have joined the ABU Digital Broadcasting Symposium 2018 as Exhibitors and will be showcasing the latest media technologies and solutions from 5-8 March at the Royale Chulan Kuala Lumpur.

Prominent equipment manufacturers, system integrators, transmission network integrators, frequency planners, Internet and broadcast service providers, digital system proponents, regulatory agencies and other media service providers are among those who will be exhibiting at the event.

As a new initiative, the DB Symposium this year will feature a series of Masterclasses on selected topics such as studio lighting, makeup, developing content for virtual reality, IP integration in production workflow and mobile journalism. The idea of the masterclasses are to provide more practical application of technologies from veteran experts. In addition to these the symposium will also present 6 dedicated workshops conducted by key industry players showcasing their products and solutions, including DVB, WorldDAB, Dalet, DRM, Dolby and Rohde & Schwarz. The workshops and masterclasses will address wide ranging topics on content development, technology implementation and their application with hands-on demonstrations in selected topics.

The 2018 edition of ABU’s Digital Broadcasting Symposium, with the theme “Enhancing Multiplatform Content”, aims to address the technologies and techniques essential to develop appropriate and engaging content required to target the changing behaviour and demand of audiences. This annual symposium staged by the ABU, now in its 14th year running, helps  radio  and  television  broadcasters, media organisations and the industry by providing a platform to share expertise and experiences, network with like-minded colleagues, showcase and embrace advancing technologies and today’s content approach. The event provides international and regional exposure to our members and the media industry alike.

We are pleased to note that WorldDAB have joined us again as the principal sponsor, with several other industry players, namely the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), MEDIAGENIX, Rohde & Schwarz, and Dolby joining as major sponsors.

The symposium with its conference, workshops and masterclasses will feature presentations by experts, panel discussions and hands-on demos addressing issues related to technology implementation, creative content creation, distribution and future prospects for the media industry in the region.
