World Radio Day observed by Bangladesh Betar

World Radio Day was observed on Tuesday (13 Feb, 2018) across Bangladesh with the theme ‘Radio & Sports’. A daylong rally, seminar and cultural program were organized by Bangladesh Betar (the only state-owned radio station), all other private FM and online radio stations, to mark the day.

The programs were designed with colorful procession, discussion, seminar, listener’s club conference and cultural nights. Speakers at the seminar in connection with World Radio Day lauded the vital role being played by Bangladesh Betar in the promotion of sports activities in the country.

Speaking on the occasion as Chief Guest, Information Minister of Bangladesh Mr. Hasanul Haq Inu, MP said that Bangladesh Betar is the highest center for producing radio programs in Bangla with utmost accuracy in our country. He underscored the importance of radio for promotion of sports activities to raise awareness among general public to build a happy and prosperous Bangladesh. He said radio had the power to reach the remote areas of the country in order to transmit information to the people. Minister also said radio helps bring peace and development together through sports.

Information Secretary of Bangladesh, Mr. Nasir Uddin Ahmed said that radio was the only medium that could reach each and every corner of the country. He said that Bangladesh Betar was committed to promote harmony and peace in the country through its programmes and news.

Director General of Bangladesh Betar, Narayan Chandra Shil said that the programmes and news of Bangladesh Betar were aimed at providing information, education and entertainment to the listeners.

In his welcome address, Bangladesh Betar’s Deputy Director General of News Hosne Ara Talukdar said that Bangladesh Betar was playing its due role for the promotion of sports activities in all over the country.

Except this a daylong listener’s club conference was organized by the Bangladesh Betar. The conference was mentored by Mr. Sheikh Muhammad Refat Ali, Regional Director, Bangladesh Betar, Dhaka.  

Earlier, a colorful rally was organized by Bangladesh Betar in the early morning. The daylong activities end with a charming cultural program where prominent cultural personalities performed.

All regional stations of Bangladesh Betar also organized a colorful rally, discussion, meeting and cultural program.
