VTV DG Mr Ho Kien and ABU SG Dr Javad Mottaghi open the 2018 GLOBAL NEWS FORUM in Ho Chi Minh City

The forum, entitled “News In The Digital Age” saw delegates in attendance who were witness to the opening addresses given by Dr Mottaghi and Director General Ho Kien. Mr Ho Kien warmly welcomed all delegates and wished them a pleasant stay in Ho Chi Minh.

In his opening address, Dr Mottaghi stated the AsiaVision platform is growing, expanding and welcoming new members continuously. He mentioned that AsiaVision is forging and maintaining partnerships with the EBU and ASBU.

The opening was followed by a presentation by Ms Wendy Everett, Director of ABU News who presented file footage from amongst Asiavision members. Mr Tan Hock Guan, Editor of AsiaVision, presented statistics regarding the uploading and sharing of contributed news items  by members.

Newly-rejoined AVN member TVRI, Indonesia reviewed their history of contributing to AVN and their plans for contributing in future.

Over 150 international news leaders, decision-makers and senior journalists got together in to learn share and discuss the hot topics regarding news in today’s digital news environment. Upon the closing of the first day of the forum, AVN members voted for the new Chairman of Asiavision, Mr Indra Singh, Manager, News and Sports at FBC, Fiji.
