2018 ABU Engineering Awards Winners to be Announced

The two panels of judges for the four ABU Engineering Awards have completed their appraisals of the nine entries received for 2018.

The winners will be announced at the Opening Session of the Technical Committee meeting in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan on 1 October 2018.

The Broadcast Engineering Excellence Award recognises outstanding contributions to broadcast engineering and the Developing Broadcasters’ Excellence Award recognises contributions in broadcast engineering made by an individual in a developing organisation, including management of technical resources.

The Engineering Industry Excellence Award is given for the most outstanding engineering contribution made by an individual in the broadcasting industry.

The ABU Green Broadcast Engineering Award recognises contributions made by an ABU member organisation in developing, implementing and promoting green technology in the broadcasting industry while creating tangible benefits in the process.

“We thank the panels for their good work,” ABU Secretary-General, Dr Javad Mottaghi, said. “The announcement of the winners is always a highlight of the Technical Committee meeting.”

The chairmen of the panels are Mr Masakazu Iwaki, Deputy Director/Head of Secretariat for AI promotion, Science & Technology Research Laboratories (STRL), NHK-Japan and Mr Hamid Dehghan Nayeri, Director, International Technical Affairs & ABU Technical Liaison Officer, Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB-Iran).  Mr Iwaki is also the ABU Technical Committee Chairman.

In addition, the winners of ABU Technical Review Prizes have been finalised.  The certificates for the Best Article and Commended Articles will also be presented during the Opening Session of the ABU Technical Committee.
