Winners of 2018 ABU Engineering Awards announced

The winners of the ABU Engineering Awards for 2018 have been announced at the annual meeting of the ABU Technical Committee in Ashgabat. The two-day meeting opened today. 

The Broadcast Engineering Excellence Award winner is Mr Sunil of Doordarshan India for his contributions to the modernisation and development of Doordarshan, the country’s public broadcaster.

The Engineering Industry Excellence Award has been won by Mr Yong Duk Kim of Korean Broadcasting System for his outstanding contributions to the development of UHD broadcasting.

The winner of the ABU Green Broadcast Engineering Award is Radio Film & Television Design & Research Institute (DRFT) for the development and promotion of green technology in China’s radio and TV projects.

The winner of the ABU Technical Review Best Article Prize is NHK-Japan for the article titled AI-Driven Smart Production, authored by Yuko Yamanouchi, Jun Goto, Yoshihiko Kawai, Takahiro Mochizuki, Shoei Sato and Atsushi Imai of the NHK Science and Technology Research Laboratories.  The article appeared in the July-August-September 2018 issue.

The First Commended Article Prize has been awarded to Mr Satyajeet Dash, Deputy Director General (Engineering), Doordarshan-India, for the article Human and Technical Resource Development for Digital File-based Solution for HD/SD TV Workflow, which appeared in the April-May-June 2018 issue of the TR.

The Second Commended Article Prize has been awarded to Mr Mostafa Darjazi, Director of Information Technology and Systems, Planning and Finance Department, Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting, for the article titled Analysis of the Information Technology Maturity Level of the units in the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) based on the ISO/IEC 20000 Standard with a Fuzzy Approach, which appeared in the Q4-2017 issue of the ABU Technical Review.
